Welcome to the Eastbourne Lammas Festival 2015
The word ‘Lammas’ comes from the old English for ‘Loaf Mass’, a celebration of the Earth’s bounty, traditionally held at the time of cutting the first corn crop. Lammas is also known as Lughnasadh, a name derived from that of the Celtic Sun God, Lugh. It is one of the main festivals now celebrated by the modern Pagan movement. As well as offering a showcase for local talent – music, Morris dancing, drumming and Storytelling– this event also Raises money for the R.N.L.I., Entertains the local community and encourages visitors to the town.

The festival is FREE. It is paid for entirely by the fundraising efforts of the Lammas Festival
Committee, and by a proportion of the voluntary collection taken at the festival. Our thanks go to all the performers and volunteers who freely give their time, hard work and expertise, making the festival a fun, peaceful and enjoyable weekend.

Thanks also to Cavendish Bakery for the Lammas Loaf, to Haulaway Skips and to Eastbourne Borough Council’s Events Team.

Long serving Committee member & supporter of the Lammas Festival, Sam Parsons passed into the Summerlands on 22nd August 2014,
