Happy New Year from the Lammas Festival Committee!

Work has started on putting together the 2013 festival which will be held on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th July and we will keep you posted over the coming months as our preparations progress.

In the meantime  here  is a very different view of the festival site from what we are used to in the summer!

Once again the festival organisers would like to thank everyone who made this year’s festival so successful. We will be taking a well earned break now until the autumn when we will start work on planning the 2013 festival and fund raising activities to support this.

This fabulous effort means that we have raised over £10,500 since the Festival started in 2001; so give yourselve a pat on the back!

On behalf of the Eastbourne Lammas Festival Committee, thanks to everyone who made the 2012 festival so successful: the bands, the morris sides, the drummers, giants, dancers, storytellers, security team, traders, caterers and bar team, the volunteer festival crew, RNLI volunteers and crew and anyone else I’ve inadvertently missed out!

We are in the process of confirming a provisional date for the 2013 festival with Eastbourne Borough Council and will let you have this as soon as available

The results of the RNLI collection will also be published as soon as this is available.

The weather not only held out but the sun shone brilliantly, the procession was amazing, the dancers and musicians played a blinder and the closing ritual John Barleycorn dance by Hunters Moon Morris was both awesome and moving. Many thanks to everyone who took part and to Stephen Lloyd MP for officially opening the festival for us.

We’re back again tomorrow. Between 10.30 and 11.00 the R.N.L.I. will do a rescue demonstration in the sea adjacent to the festival site and the music starts with Blueshift Jazz at 12.00 midday. Hope to see you there!

We will be on site before then, but need to get the site laid out and the beer tent/stage sited before any stallholders come on site to set up.

Please also remember to bring your public liability insurance documents with you as you will NOT be allowed to set up without it.

We look forward to seeing you all at the weekend.

The “offiste” part of the festival kicks off 10.00am at Banker’s Corner, Terminus Road with performances from Hunters Moon, Penatacle Drummers and the visiting morris sides

They will then make their way towards the seafront stopping at TJ Hughes at approximately10.30am and the seafront opposite the end of Terminus Road at approximately 11.15am

The procession will form up in the same place to process along the seafront to the festival site from 12.00 midday, stopping at the lifeboat museum en route and arriving on site by 12.45 at the latest

Remember all are welcome to take part – please dress up;  we encourage people to wear gold/yellow in celebration of the harvest but any sort of dress, the more eccentric the better, is more than acceptable! All taking part in the procession are requested to follow any instructions from the procession stewards.
