SATURDAY 1st AUGUST

 

Magicfolk

Norfolk based Magicfolk are leading players of mystical psych-folk, producing a blend of folk, rock, and celtic sounds with an assortment of instruments in songs with pagan and mythological themes.

They have played at numerous pagan and esoteric events. And with its mix of otherworldy harmonies and psychedelic rock, Magicfolk's eponymous debut album has won enthusiastic international reviews. They're currently working on a new collection of songs for the follow-up album, due for release autumn 2009.

Touchstone

Touchstone are delighted to perform at the 2009 Lammas Festival, and will be showcasing their exciting new line up. Touchstone have been at the forefront of acoustic / electric folk music in Sussex for the last 20 years and have released 5 albums appeared at countless festivals, supports and radio broadcasts. Founder members Bonnie Flitney and Mark Orchin won the prestigious 1996 ‘best new artist’ award at the National Folk Festival and write all of the band’s original material.

Lackadaisy


Gypsy Swing Cajun Western Swing Polka Klezmer Band serving up a rich confection of original songs with an old time vibe spiced with a smattering of great tunes from back in the day and across the world in English, French, German, Yiddish, Spanish, Hebrew, Polish and Russian.

Kim Thompsett

Rye based Kim Thompsett has supported the Lammas Festival for a number of years and returns for 2009 on the back of the release of her first solo album "Songs From the Uglee Meadow" a collection of songs inspired by quiet woods, rushing streams, misty meadows, lonely moors and dancing fires imbued with a breathless air of timelessness.

Ragatistringband

Ragati String Band

Ragati String Band was formed with one thing in mind . . To get the crowd's toes tapping to 'FootStomping' songs & tunes!  The combination of Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Fiddle with a good dosing of T-Chest Bass thrown in is just the mix we love.
Its Roots, Swamp, Skiffle & Jug with Attitude played as Raw as it comes! And when we're enjoying ourselves then the crowd is sure to be enjoying it too!!

Carol is an accomplished professional vocalist with over 30 years experience.

From her early career as a cabaret singer in clubs and restaurants around the South East. Much of her recent experience is working in restaurants and hotels, along with working with Back in Time

Heart breakers and slight aches:   Soulful folk and country music gems from new duo The Slight Aches  (Simon Crafter & Alison Stewart)
Great guitar picking and lush vocal harmonies.

The Slight Aches will be playing in the round tent at approximately 3.40 on Saturday 1st August

Open-Air Celidh with Rattlebone

Now a regular feature of the Lammas Festival, the open-air celidh is a chance for the festival crowd to get involved in the action. Led as always by top local band, Rattlebone, there is no better way to end the weekend.

The Celidh starts at 4.00pm Sunday 2nd August

Porvari

Porvari

Back to the festival they love with a new electric sound and guest line up, Porvari's new album, "The world is watching" is a work of breathtaking diversity: from the melodic acoustic, through reggae to real rock roots .

Mr Weston & The Ironing

Ant Lupton (drums), Jim Blanchard (bass) and Wilf Weston (piano and singer) are three curmudgeons from South West Hertfordshire who perform sitting down. Influences cited include the Bolus, the Heliotrope and the Turret. It's bluesy but lively and ideal for a sunny (!)Sunday afternoon.

  Blackstrap

Black Strap Molasses

Performers at most if not all Lammas Festivals. Black Strap Molasses are an Eastbourne based band who perform mostly modern singer songwriter folk, including Jim Page, John Gorka and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

BlueShift Jazz Band

Masters of Cool Jazz and Be-Bop, Blueshift went down a storm last year and we are delighted to have them back for 2009.
